There was some true potential hidden within the songs, but with mixing so atrocious that beats often drowned out vocals, I found it almost impossible to enjoy.

He’s back! The production value is back! There’s going to be more Tyler, in the vein of the Tyler I enjoy, and it’s going to be brand new music that this old…nay… young man can say that he enjoys. While the album was successful in keeping my mid-life crisis at bay for another year or two, I’m not sure that it produced the same euphoria or excitement I experienced the first time around, and it definitely hasn’t left a lasting impression. The worst part is: I genuinely don’t think it’s the fault of the album itself. When I pick it apart objectively I find a lot of cool tricks, a lot of creativity, a lot of ingenuity, and I really want to love it. I objectively love what he tries to do, and I will stand by the album’s merit as a music fan, but I simply do not find myself spinning it very much. Lackluster musical impression or not, the product itself is beautiful.

I’m sure I’ve labelled other records as the favorites in in my collection, but this record either takes the cake or is a close competitor. The honey-colored transparent dual discs reflect the bee theme of the album perfectly, while creating a trippy rippling effect while spinning on the turntable. The artwork is eye-catching on the front and humorous within, as frequently characterized by Tyler, and reflects a maturing artist while maintaining the same cache that sells his brand. The record sounds great and certainly adds to the musical experience.
